Privacy Policy
Veowe is designed to keep your data simple and visible. Here's what we collect, what we don't, and where it goes.
Last updated May 2026
Using Veowe with or without an account
Google sign-in is optional. You can use Veowe without an account.
- Without an account, your data is stored locally on your device using your browser's storage.
- Local-only data may be lost if browser storage is cleared, you use private browsing, change device, or your browser removes site data.
- Signed-in data is stored in our backend and linked to the Google account you authenticated with.
What you enter into the app
Veowe stores the information you enter, including:
- Money project details — name, balances and category
- Settings and preferences (display, region, wording)
- Check-ins and balance events
- Payment schedules and reminders you set up
Bank connections are optional. By default Veowe does not connect to your bank — everything is manually entered. Veowe never receives or stores your bank login or password credentials. If you choose to connect, encrypted open-banking provider access credentials are stored server-side, as described in the section below.
Bank connection data (optional, read-only)
Connecting a bank is entirely optional and off by default. No bank data is collected unless you choose to connect an account yourself, and you can disconnect at any time.
Where it is enabled, Veowe may process read-only account information, balances, transactions, institution details and connection metadata through our secure open banking provider, such as TrueLayer. We use this data to suggest possible payment or savings contribution matches for your Veowe projects.
Veowe does not receive your bank password, cannot move money, and does not update your projects unless you confirm a suggested match. Where a connection exists, the provider access credentials are encrypted before they are stored and are only ever decrypted on our servers to make read-only requests — they are never sent to your browser. You can disconnect at any time from the bank connections settings; disconnecting destroys the stored provider credentials on our side, while the history already linked to your projects stays with you. Bank data may be delayed or incomplete, and is used only for tracking and visualisation. Veowe does not initiate payments in the current version.
Where your data lives
If you are not signed in, your projects, check-ins, schedules and preferences stay on your device in your browser's local storage.
If you sign in with Google, the same data is stored in our managed backend and linked to your account so it can travel with you between devices.
Payments
Card details are handled by Stripe, our payment provider. Veowe does not store full card details.
Veowe stores your unlock status and the Stripe identifiers needed to link the purchase to your signed-in Google account (such as customer and payment IDs).
Optional preferences and education
Veowe stores optional display preferences — such as reduced motion, dyslexia-friendly mode, low-clutter mode and visual style choices — in your browser's local storage. These are never shared.
Educational content in the app is general information only. It is not personalised financial or debt advice.
Analytics
The MVP doesn't include third-party analytics. If we add basic, privacy-respecting usage analytics later, this section will explain what's collected and how to opt out.
Your choices
You can:
- Delete any project at any time from inside the app
- Clear local data via your browser settings
- Sign out at any time from the Account page
- Download a copy of your Veowe data from Account → Data & privacy. When you're signed in this includes your cloud-stored Veowe data as well as the preferences saved in this browser. It excludes payment, banking and authentication tokens.
- Delete your Veowe account from Account → Data & privacy. This removes your Veowe records and sign-in, and cannot be undone. Billing history held by Stripe is kept where we're required to keep it.
Error monitoring
To keep Veowe working we record a deliberately minimal, privacy-minimised record when something fails on our servers: an error type, a general category, a simplified page pattern, an HTTP status and how often it has happened.
These records never contain error messages, stack traces, request contents, tokens, bank data, email addresses, IP addresses or account identifiers, and they are readable only by our own server-side tooling.
They are deleted automatically after 90 days by a scheduled daily clean-up.
Contact form submissions
When you use the contact form, your message is sent to our server and stored there. We store the email address you provide, your reason for contacting us, an optional name, an optional message and the page you submitted from. If you're signed in, we also link the submission to your account ID. We apply simple limits on how many messages can be sent in a short period to prevent abuse.
These details are used to respond to your enquiry and improve accessibility. They are not used for advertising and are not shared with third parties.
Please do not submit bank passwords, full card details, or highly sensitive financial information through the contact form.
Contact submissions are deleted automatically after 12 months, unless a message is still open or under review, in which case we keep it until it is resolved.
